The Technocentre in industrial ecology in a non-profit organization founded by many socio-economic partners from Sorel-Tracy. The goal is to gather in the same center research and development activities, but also bring support to municipalities and business development that want to grow with the industrial ecology approach.

Started in Spring 2001 by the Technology Transfer Center in Industrial Ecology (CTTÉI) and the UQAM/Sorel-Tracy Environmental Research Center (CREUST), the project was initially intended as a display for industrial ecology.  It has since evolved to a more global approach by becoming a pole with «education-research-development» sectors. This approach that combines all aspects of an enterprise or organization is useful to help them to become more sustainable.

In a context where small organizations and businesses are not quite familiar with a complex domain such as environment, or even more complex, of sustainable development, but in a context where they must adapt rapidly, getting a global solution from one expert supplier that includes all aspects of the enterprise (environment, organization, technology and management sectors) is way more effective than trying to get the same expertise from many suppliers and integrate all the issues themselves.  As an EcoCenter with multiple specialized resources, the Technocentre can really help industries, businesses and municipalities to obtain better results while paying less and taking less risks.

A Global Approach
